Simplify, Detox, and Thrive: ADHD-Friendly Tips for a Balanced Life in 2026

✨ Reflecting on “My Year” – Lessons from 2025

I started calling 2025 “my year.” I’ve said that about other years before, but this time felt different. For years, I’ve practiced what I call a ‘life audit,’ reorganizing my life to align with my personal and professional goals. In 2025, everything finally clicked.

Now, stepping into my fifth year as a Trained Professional Organizer in January 2026, I feel exactly where I hoped to be. The vibe is strong, and the purpose is clear. I’m doing work I love and creating fulfillment and joy for myself and my clients.

Life still brings challenges, and 2025 was no exception. But even in the middle of those trials, I noticed that choosing a simpler, cleaner lifestyle made a real difference in my energy and focus.

🧠 Why Simplicity Matters

Simplifying your environment and routines isn’t just a preference. It is a strategy that helps your brain work better and your nervous system relax, especially if you experience ADHD or other brain-based differences.

Benefits include:

  • Fewer visual distractions to reduce overwhelm
  • Simple systems to support follow-through
  • Minimal routines to prevent decision fatigue

💛 Internal compassion matters
When we practice patience, understanding, and acceptance with ourselves, it naturally extends to others. Remember, acceptance doesn’t always mean approval, and it’s okay to adjust your sails when needed.

🎯 Making Mindful Choices

Living intentionally allows us to organize and move through life with purpose instead of reacting to chaos.

Mindful choices help you:

  • Reduce distractions
  • Start tasks more easily
  • Build meaningful daily habits
  • Create more peace on earth

🏡 Clearing Out What Overwhelms You

Detoxing your home and lifestyle doesn’t need to be extreme. It’s about creating:
Mental clarity • Emotional stability • Physical ease

Skip the “rage cleaning.” Small, steady steps at a comfortable pace still make a big difference.

💡 Detox Tips for Home and Life

  • Remove visual clutter and get rid of unused, expired, or duplicate items
  • Spend time outside, unplugged from electronics, connecting with nature and others
  • Move your body regularly to build strength, clarity, and energy
  • Stay hydrated to support focus and energy
  • Keep meals simple, clean, and planned to reduce overwhelm
  • Build gentle daily habits for calm and balance
  • Swap harsh chemical products for gentler, eco-friendly alternatives
  • Practice grounding strategies to reduce anger and anxiety, even amid uncertainty

🎉 Celebrate Yourself and Others

Just reading this is already a step. I also encourage you to explore other resources that celebrate the unique strengths of neurodivergent brains:

Notice these strengths in yourself and others. Take small, consistent steps toward simplicity, and before you know it, they will become graceful leaps.

💃 Don’t worry about stepping backwards, it’s part of the dance. Put on music, move your body, and smile. Every small action adds up to creating a life that is lighter, fuller, and more connected.

Stay Tuned for What’s to Come

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my clients for your continued trust in me as your Professional Organizer—and for the incredible number of new inquiries coming in. I’m truly humbled.

In preparation for 2026, I’ll be spending this final month of December deep-diving into my business goals and tackling my year-end bookkeeping and file cabinets (one folder at a time! lol) while making space for continued growth to best serve you.  Booking will reopen in the new year with a few adjustments to help everything flow more smoothly.

Wishing everyone a safe and joyful holiday season!
